Google has announced to launching its own open source web browser, called Google Chrome. It is designed to be fast and light and is optimized for next generation Web applications that are heavy on multimedia and graphics.
A beta version of Google Chrome is launched in 100 countries for users of Windows and Mac and Linux versions will follow shortly.
The Google Chrome browser is based on the current WebKit rendering engine, and it will integrate, tabbed browsing, Google Gears and a new research and address system called Omnibox.
Chrome will also include some functions over existing competitors. It will have a home page's new instant access vignettes shortcut, as found in Opera 9, with a sidebar on recent research and tabs.
The tabs will be moved above the window, not below as in the Firefox browser, and there will be an option for privacy similar to Internet Explorer InPrivate mode in which no trace of sites or searches will be stored.
A malware and phishing protection system will also be integrated and updated constantly, with Chrome automatically download a list of hazardous sites in background.
